Momento Plus ("Momento", "we", "our", or "us") powers the Momento mobile application and related services that help you capture voice notes, journal entries, images, and action items with AI assistance. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard the personal information of people who use our mobile app, web services, and any site accessible at momentoplus.app (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the data practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the information you provide directly, information that is generated when you interact with the Services, and limited information from third parties who help us deliver the product.

  • Account and authentication data: Your email address, verification codes, and the Instant DB identifiers we issue when you sign in.
  • Journal content: The text, checklists, tags, audio recordings, transcriptions, AI-generated summaries, and any images you add to Momento. Audio is transcribed through our secure proxy before it is processed by OpenAI.
  • Usage and device data: Device type, operating system, app version, timestamps, feature usage, crash logs, and performance metrics collected to maintain reliability and improve the product.
  • Subscription details: Purchase tokens, subscription status, renewal dates, and limited billing metadata synchronized via RevenueCat. We never receive your full payment card number from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Support communications: Questions, feedback, or bug reports that you email or submit to us.

2. How We Use Information

  • Authenticate you, maintain your account, and sync your entries across devices.
  • Generate transcriptions, summaries, reminders, and AI coaching content when you request them.
  • Store your entries securely so you can review, edit, and organize them later.
  • Process subscription purchases, trials, and renewals, including confirming eligibility.
  • Provide customer support, troubleshoot issues, and improve product performance.
  • Send critical service notices, reminders, and optional product updates (you can opt out of non-essential communications).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. AI and Third-Party Processing

To deliver certain features, we send limited data to trusted subprocessors:

  • OpenAI receives audio snippets, transcripts, and structured prompts strictly for transcription and content generation. Requests are proxied through our servers so we can enforce authentication and access controls. We do not permit OpenAI to use your content to train their models.
  • Cloudflare R2 or compatible S3 storage temporarily stores the images you upload so that they can sync across your devices.
  • RevenueCat maintains subscription status and entitlements. Billing is handled by the platform where you purchased (Apple App Store or Google Play), which provides receipts and anonymized identifiers to us for verification.
  • Instant DB stores your account, entries, tags, and reminders in a managed, encrypted database.

Each vendor is contractually obligated to safeguard your information and to use it only in support of the Services.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following situations:

  • With service providers described above who help us operate, secure, or analyze the Services.
  • With your consent or at your direction, such as when you export entries or share content.
  • To comply with legal requests, court orders, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Momento, our users, or the public.
  • In connection with a business transaction (e.g., merger or acquisition), where permitted by law and subject to confidentiality safeguards.

5. Data Retention

We keep your journal entries and account information for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual entries from within the app at any time. If you delete your account or request deletion, we remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements (for example, for fraud prevention or taxation records).

6. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You can also:

  • Export or delete entries directly in the app.
  • Disable daily reminders and marketing notifications in the app settings or your device settings.
  • Disable microphone, photo library, or push-notification permissions in your device settings.
  • Cancel subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play at least 24 hours before renewal.

7. Security

We use encryption in transit, scoped access controls, and monitoring to protect your data. Despite our safeguards, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique email password and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

8. Children's Privacy

The Services are not intended for children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to Momento, contact us and we will take steps to delete the information.

9. International Users

We are based in the United States. By using the Services, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your home jurisdiction.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy with a new "Last updated" date and, when required, notify you via the app or email. Your continued use of the Services after the changes become effective signifies your acceptance of the revised policy.
